HILLSIDE
RESIDENCE

Natural Tones with Modern Design

This project is a 2 story residential project designed in Beverly Hills, CA. The client wanted to use natural colors with a contemporary building style. I worked to create floor plans, sections, elevations, doors and windows schedules, and renderings to present to the client and to the city for approval.

This project also required communication with external consultants including soils engineer, structural engineer, landscape architect, and communication between the consultants for consistent, accurate products.

A 3D architectural rendering of a modern two-story residence featuring a geometric facade composed of white stucco volumes and a central vertical accent panel clad in beige travertine stone. The structure has a flat roof with prominent dark overhangs and large floor-to-ceiling windows connecting to a manicured lawn. The scene is set under a blue sky with small trees and includes a figure walking on the sidewalk in the foreground.

The design organizes the two-story residence to maximize flow, natural light, and connections to the surrounding hillside. A small atrium near the entry hall features a fruitless olive tree, immediately bringing a sense of nature into the interior and setting a tranquil tone for the home. Careful placement of openings, doors, and windows enhances daylighting and views while maintaining privacy. The light timber framing system supports flexible floor layouts and clean, contemporary forms that complement the client’s natural color palette. Coordination with consultants ensured that the design was structurally sound and integrated with landscape, soil, and engineering considerations, resulting in a cohesive, well-resolved project.

A detailed architectural floor plan labeled "First Floor Plan" featuring a grand central "Entry Hall" with a curved staircase and a double-height ceiling marked "Open to Above." To the right, an expansive open-concept wing contains a "Living Room," "Family Room," and "Junior Dining" area that flows into a large "Kitchen" equipped with dual islands and a butler's pantry. To the left, a formal "Dining Room" and "Library" provide quieter zones, while a large "Outdoor Seating Area" wraps along the right exterior.
A technical architectural line drawing labeled "South Elevation" featuring a "Building Elevations Key Notes" legend on the left that lists materials such as "Smooth Stucco Finish," "Travertine Stone," and "Black Anodized Aluminum." The drawing depicts the two-story facade with large floor-to-ceiling windows on the ground level, a central entry door, and a second-story balcony with glass railings, all under flat roof overhangs.
A detailed architectural floor plan labeled "Second Floor Plan" featuring a large "Master Bedroom" suite on the right with dual walk-in closets, a "Master Bath," and access to an expansive "Master Terrace." The layout includes three additional en-suite bedrooms labeled "Bedroom 1," "Bedroom 2," and "Bedroom 3," distributed around a central hallway that overlooks the "Open to Below" entry space illuminated by a "Skylight Above." A "Laundry Room" is located near the upper left, and private balconies are attached to the front and rear secondary bedrooms.
